1969 Camaro SS Snowbird’s Best Friend

If you’re normal Reader, you may remember that I was an announcer at Pure Stock Muscle Muscle Car Drag Race. After spending more than twenty years at a stall, I see people coming and going, but some choose to linger – including racers and spectators. Over the years, I have made many friends.

Many of them are from Canada, which is a reasonable distance from Mid-Michigan Motorplex. In fact, Metro Toronto is closer to drag than homes for many American participants. One of the Canadians is Bruno Beltrame, who lasted for 20 years in the PSMCDR competition. His trusted Ram Air IV GTO will often rise with more cubes and end up tied to their son and daughter to play against their Raiv Firebird and Camaro SS/RS.

Bruno can now consider himself a snowbird, spending winter in Florida while enjoying the solid small amount of this 1969 Camaro SS. Solid lift, do you ask? This means its L78 is rated at 375 horsepower and is the top supersports engine. Additionally, the owner added L89 aluminum heads – a nice bonus. Most of this Camaro’s original paint as well as the interior. The factory’s gear is also 4.56, and the hug’s dipped in the low 12 poles on the tires on the street as it maximizes many of the stock components.
