A Stellantis employee working at the Jeep plant in Toledo, Ohio, has died in a mysterious accident, according to local media reports.
According to the Toledo Fire Rescue Department’s comments to the city World Trade Center 11 The worker was crushed to death. The emergency department received a call at around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, but police have not yet disclosed the name or gender of the victim, nor the details of how the tragedy occurred.

Toledo World Trade Center 11 After receiving the emergency call, Stellantis rushed to the scene and learned from other Jeep employees that the deceased worked on the Gladiator production line, not the Wrangler production line located in the same factory. But Stellantis has so far refused to confirm the news or make any comments on the accident, only acknowledging that someone died under its supervision.
“Stellantis has been made aware of an incident involving one of our employees this afternoon at the Toledo Assembly Plant,” a spokesperson said. As this incident is currently under investigation, we are unable to provide additional details at this time,” the company said in a statement.
If confirmed, it would be the second fatal crush accident at a Stellantis plant this year. In February, Domenico “Mimmo” Fatigati, a contractor hired to do plant maintenance, was crushed to death by machinery while working at a Stellantis production plant in southern Italy.
The accident is bound to mean a tragic start to Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares’ visit to the United States this week. Tavares is keen to lay out plans to fix the carmaker’s underperforming North American business, which he blames for its poor half-year results. Stellantis’ profits fell 48% in the first six months of 2024, a period during which rival carmakers did not suffer a similar downturn.
