Diego’s AutoHunter Picks

red is my favorite Color, but I don’t like red cars. I prefer red prune. For example, my dream Dodge Charger is a 1969 R/T, white with red bumblebee stripes and interior. Does it make sense?

Still, I can’t help myself, these AutoHunter Picks are all one color variant. They all touch different parts of my life: youth, fantasy, adulthood and late modeling. Which one lifts your skirt?

2011 Cadillac CTS-V Coupe
At the time, it was my American car of choice. My friend Ken thinks this is the best looking Cadillac ever built. I’d bet that cooler heads would prevail for both of us today, but the CTS Coupe remains a strong design that strikes a balance between perfection and polarization, just like the Ram trucks of the 1990s. Make it a CTS-V, and this Caddy is a car that can compete with Germany’s best.

This 2011 CTS-V Coupe is one of approximately 3,224 vehicles produced that year. Of course, power comes from a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine that delivers 556 horsepower. It featured many novelties that may seem commonplace today but were starting to appear in production at the time, such as HID headlights with adaptive lighting, a reversing camera and navigation. For the last Cadillac coupe, look no further.

1993 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra
This is shiznit when it comes out. And, before you know it, another 107 Cobra R versions have been produced and are already on sale. With more horsepower than the regular GT, the Cobra gave Ford a leg up on the competition against the 350ci Camaros that were supposed to be even more impressive.

235 horsepower sounds tame these days, but this 1993 Mustang Cobra nicely bridges the gap between classic muscle cars, the end of an era of malaise, and today. Fewer than 5,000 of these were built; this car has 23,942 miles. For someone like me who never owned a 5.0 Mustang in high school, this is the perfect collector’s item.

1965 Chevrolet C10
Four days after the conclusion of Barrett-Jackson’s 2024 Scottsdale Fall Auction, you’d be a fool if you thought trucks weren’t hot. While high-performance trucks of the day were very unusual and rare, that doesn’t mean a classic truck had to be a slow-burner with a two-barrel small block and a triple-barrel tree transmission.

Exhibit A is this 1965 Chevrolet C10. It looks very nice with the white highlights, but what really caught my interest was what was under the hood: a 327 with “double hump” heads and a four-speed manual transmission. The diamond quilted bench also looks attractive. If my vacation had deep pockets and didn’t require a lot of turning, there would probably be no better vehicle than this truck.

2023 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170
I’m not obsessed with these 1,000+ horsepower cars. On the one hand, I want a stick; Another thing, I knew I was going to kill myself. But if you had the money to pay homage to Detroit’s horsepower, this would be it, and it’s likely there’ll never be anything like it again. Plus, the Challenger’s good looks are now a thing of the past.

There’s one thing about this Challenger SRT Demon 170 – and no, it’s not its TorRed hue (take it as you please here) or any other feature you can tell from the pictures. Instead, of the 3,300 built, only 300 were earmarked for Canada – and this was one of them. Do you believe it was registered in New Brunswick in the first place? Random! Plus, it’s currently based in the United States, so there won’t be border issues with your purchase.
