An interesting feature of the T.50 is that the power steering only works at low speeds to make the car easier to maneuver

- Unlike many other modern supercars, the T.50 puts driver engagement first.
- The powerful 4.0-litre naturally aspirated V12 engine makes the T.50 a worthy successor to the BMW-powered McLaren F1.
- Production of this super exclusive exotic car is already underway.
Jay Leno owns a collection of amazing cars, and his black McLaren F1 is one of the most recognizable cars in his vast collection. The comedian has a brand new F1, and on the latest episode of Jay Leno’s Garage, he welcomed its spiritual successor. Of course, we’re talking about the Gordon Murray T.50, not the weird McLaren Speedtail that was launched a few years ago.
The T.50 is unlike any other modern supercar. In a world where cars are getting bigger with each generation, Gordon Murray was able to design his dream car to the same dimensions as a Porsche Boxster, meaning the proportions of the T.50 are very similar to those of the F1, which was launched nearly 35 years ago.

The car is compact, making it more maneuverable while still featuring all the modern comforts you’d expect, and weighs only about 2,200 pounds (about 1,000 kilograms). Leno is also a big fan of the car’s timeless design, noting that, like the F1, it will remain modern for decades to come.
Of course, the highlight of this car is the engine. Built by Cosworth, it’s a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine that produces 654 hp at 11,500 rpm and 344 lb-ft (467 Nm) of torque at 9,000 rpm. This engine is paired with a six-speed manual transmission, sending power to the rear wheels only.
Curiously, Leno didn’t actually drive the car, but sat in the back with Dario Franchitti behind the wheel. Still, he seemed to take great pleasure when Franchitti started the V12 engine, letting it sing and create a sound that would go down in history in a few years.
