Kawasaki Ninja 1100SX: Mechanical Details

The most important update of the new Kawasaki Ninja 1100SX is the upgrade to a 1,099cc engine, replacing the previous 1,043cc engine. The increase in displacement is achieved through a slightly longer stroke, now 77mm x 59mm compared to the previous 77mm x 56mm.

Despite the larger engine, power has dropped by 4bhp to 135bhp, while torque has increased by 2Nm for a total of 113Nm. What’s more, peak power and torque are now reached at lower revs, which should result in smoother, more effortless performance. Additionally, Kawasaki has lengthened the transmission ratios of fifth and sixth gears to provide a more comfortable touring experience. Other upgrades include an enhanced bi-directional quickshifter for improved low-rpm performance, improved fuel efficiency, and a switch from Bridgestone S22 tires to newer S23 tires.

The upcoming Ninja 1100SX retains much of the body and frame design of the earlier model. It still uses a USD fork, but the rear monoshock is now an adjustable Ohlins S3 unit, and the rear disc rotor is larger than before. Other features like device charging port, TFT display with phone connectivity, ABS, 17-inch wheels with Bridgestone Battlax S23 tyres, cruise control, riding modes and traction control remain unchanged.

The new Ninja 1100SX is expected to debut in our markets in the coming weeks and may be priced by Rs 75,000 to Rs 1 lakh more than the previous model. The upcoming version is priced at Rs 12.19 lakh (ex-showroom). Initially, only the standard Ninja 1100SX will be available, with a fancier SE variant – fitted with Brembo M4.32 front brakes and Ohlins rear shocks – not appearing to be part of the initial offering.

Although the Japanese bike maker is yet to announce the official price of the Ninja 1100SX, some dealers have already started taking pre-orders for the bike.
