Kia India has officially unveiled the first teaser of its upcoming compact SUV Syros. This marks an important milestone in the company’s strategy to consolidate its position in the Indian SUV market under its ‘Kia 2.0’ initiative. Positioned between the Kia Sonet and Seltos, the Syros is expected to blend advanced technology, bold design and enhanced practicality to cater to the growing demand for SUVs in India.
Syros – Design highlights
The teaser hints at the Syros’ distinctive boxy design, which is characterized by a bold front profile, black elements on the C-pillars creating a floating roof effect and flush-mounted door handles. L-shaped LED taillights adorn the rear, while vertical LED daytime running lights give the front an aggressive look. Roof rails and thick B-pillars further emphasize the SUV’s strong and modern design
functional expectations
Inside, the Syros is expected to feature a technologically advanced cabin with dual 10.25-inch screens for infotainment and instrumentation, reminiscent of Kia’s other high-end models such as the Seltos. It is expected to feature a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, leatherette upholstery and an advanced climate control system. Premium features such as a Bose audio system, selectable driving modes and power front seats are likely to enhance the overall user experience. The package is also rumored to include advanced safety features including six airbags, ADAS and 360-degree cameras.
Syros – Powertrain options
Kia is expected to offer the Syros with a variety of powertrains – petrol, diesel and electric. The first models may include a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine, a 1.0-liter turbo gasoline engine, and a 1.5-liter diesel engine. Additionally, an all-electric model is reportedly in the pipeline, further underscoring Kia’s commitment to electrification
strategic importance
Syros represents Kia’s ambition to capture 10% of the market share in India by offering innovative and easy-to-use vehicles that suit Indian consumer preferences. It’s positioned in the highly competitive compact SUV segment to challenge the established players while leveraging Kia’s reputation for reliability and design.
Kia plans to launch the Syros in early 2025, with a fully electric version likely to follow later this year. Expect more details, including pricing, to be announced closer to official launch. Syros highlighted Kia’s forward-thinking strategy in India to blend cutting-edge technology with bold aesthetics to appeal to a wide range of customers.
