Kia is about to launch its second compact SUV, the Syros. The SUV will debut on December 19, and the brand’s latest teaser offers a brief look at the interior. The trailer doesn’t reveal much about the cabin, but we do understand that it strays away from Sonnet and Seltos. While Kia has confirmed the presence of a panoramic sunroof, the upcoming Syros is teased to feature a floating touchscreen, digital instrument cluster, two-spoke steering wheel (with Kia logo), new gear selector, 360-degree camera, engine start/stop buttons, parking sensors, terrain mode and Type-C charging port. Expected features include ventilated front seats, auto air conditioning, six airbags (standard) and ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) suite.
Previous teasers showed off a boxy design, a flat roofline, a strong front end with vertically stacked headlights, an upright rear marked by two-piece L-shaped taillights, and a windshield with a wraparound effect and integrated spoiler.

Kia Syros: Powertrain
While technical details have yet to be announced, the Syros is expected to come with a variety of powertrain options. ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) models are likely to be available with 1.2-litre and 1.0-litre petrol engines, as well as a 1.5-litre diesel engine. Kia expects to add electric powertrains to its lineup by mid-2025. Both versions will come in front-wheel drive configuration and be based on the same platform.
The ICE Syros is expected to be priced higher than the Sonet, which starts at Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Although there is no direct competitor, the upcoming SUV will face competition from Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Tata Curvv and other compact SUVs.
