Recently, a spy photo of the Mahindra BE.05 emerged online, featuring a huge glass roof. Currently, the Curvv EV and Citroen Basalt are the only two compact SUVs that come with a coupe-like design. The former comes with a sunroof, while the latter does not. The BE.05, which has a SUV coupe-level glass roof, is expected to be a tough challenger to the Curvv EV. It will also face competition from other models in its segment, including the MG ZS EV, the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV, and the Maruti Suzuki eVX. Mahindra BE.05: Exterior and Interior
According to previous spy photos, the electric SUV may retain the design elements of the concept car, including the C-shaped LED daytime running lights. It is also expected to be equipped with a charging socket on the left rear quarter panel, flush door handles, huge aero wheels, low-profile tires, all-four disc brakes, a striking tailgate and a racing-style double spoiler.
Mahindra hasn’t made any official announcements yet, but the BE.05 is expected to come with a host of amenities and a luxurious interior. According to the latest spy photos, it will feature a two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated ‘BE’ logo in the centre. The steering wheel is likely to be hexagonal or octagonal with illuminated buttons on either side for operating the infotainment and instrument panel. The display layouts for the former and the latter are likely to be linked together, with a new user interface that’s designed and structured with EVs in mind. Other possible highlights include a large insert on the centre console, electrically adjustable front seats and fabric door handles.
Mahindra BE.05: Powertrain
The BE.05 will ride on the company’s new INGLO platform designed specifically for electric vehicles. It will most likely be equipped with a 60kWh battery, which will give it a range of 450km on a single charge. The BE.05 will likely come with two-wheel drive as standard, with all-wheel drive available in higher-spec configurations.
