Mahindra XUV 3XO gets 5-star crash test safety rating

The Mahindra XUV 3XO scored 29.36 out of 32 points in Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), where the driver’s chest was adequately protected by the deformable barrier in the event of an offset frontal collision.

The Bharat New Car Assessment Program (BNCAP), launched by the Indian government in October 2023, uses crash tests to assess the safety of vehicles in the event of an accident or injury and awards stars based on their performance. A 5-star crash test safety rating, such as the one recently awarded to the Mahindra XUV 3XO (or XUV300 facelift), indicates the highest possible score. According to a video posted on BNCAP’s YouTube channel, the Mahindra XUV 3XO, launched nearly seven months ago, is able to achieve the highest safety ratings in terms of adult and child occupant protection. This rating applies to the AX7 L and MX2 variants of the XUV 3XO. Let’s take a closer look at the XUV 3XO results:

The Mahindra XUV 3XO scored 29.36 out of 32 points in Adult Occupant Protection (AOP), where the driver’s chest was adequately protected by the deformable barrier in the event of an offset frontal collision. However, protection for the co-pilot’s chest was “good”. Testers further noted that while the co-driver’s feet were well protected, the driver’s legs were adequately protected.

While the XUV 3XO scored 13.36 points out of 16 in the frontal offset deformable barrier test, it scored 16 points out of 16 in the AOP Part 2 test, the side movable deformable barrier test. The driver’s head, chest and abdomen are well protected.

Mahindra XUV 3XO Child Occupant Protection Results

As far as Child Occupant Protection (COP) is concerned, the Mahindra XUV 3XO scored 43 out of 49 points. It scored an impressive 24 out of 12 points in the dynamic test, 12 out of 12 points in the CRS installation score and 7 out of 13 points in the vehicle evaluation.

The test vehicle was equipped with safety features such as eight airbags (standard), ISOFIX child braces and safety assist technology including seat belt reminders. It misses the side head and knee airbags.

The other two Mahindra models tested by BNCAP were the XUV400 and Thar Roxx, both of which received five stars. The former comes standard with 2 frontal airbags, while the latter comes standard with 8 frontal airbags.
