When designing and building the successor to the iconic Chiron, Bugatti could have decided to cut corners and use the same platform and W16 powertrain as its predecessor, as it did when building the Veyron replacement. However, with Mate Rimac at the helm, Bugatti decided to start from scratch and create a new supercar using a bespoke platform and a new V16 engine from Cosworth that is unlike any other on the market.

The design of the tourbillon is also very different from its predecessor, but is still instantly recognizable as Bugatti. Smooth lines are more eye-catching than ever and stand out in architecture throughout East Asia. While in Japan, Bugatti brought the tourbillon to the Kashihara Golden Palace and the 1868 building Abuden Miso.

“Japan’s relationship with Bugatti is more than just admiration,” said Bugatti President Christophe Piochon. “More than 25 Bugatti models have appeared on Japanese roads, and the country has cemented itself as an important birthplace of the brand. Known for their discerning taste and appreciation of uniqueness, Japanese collectors embody that Bugatti creations are not only Just a vision of the vehicles; they are masterpieces to be admired and respected.”

Bugatti won’t start delivering the Tourbillon to customers until 2026, and will continue to test and fine-tune the car. At the heart of the new supercar is an 8.3-liter naturally aspirated V16 engine that revs to 9,000 rpm and produces 986 horsepower. While the engine is impressive on its own, it’s also paired with three electric motors, boosting combined output to 1,775 horsepower.
