Get ready for the SAIA Scaffold Builders Competition, sponsored by AT-PAC, coming up in 2025! This all-day competition is a test of speed and skill, where every step counts. With 20 teams competing to erect and dismantle scaffolding with precision and safety, this is an event you don’t want to miss.
Time and Place
Tuesday, January 21
10:00am – 4:00pm
Las Vegas Convention Center – South Hall
More teams, more action
This year, the number of participating teams has increased from 8 to 20, and they are all at their best. Each team consists of four installers and a coach, and they will race against the clock. But speed alone is not enough, the teams must execute flawlessly. One wrong move, and their score will drop.
Jackie Davis, deputy director of SAIA, explains the risks:
“We have referees at every construction site who observe every detail and ensure that the team follows safe work practices. Once the scaffolding is erected, we have a dedicated referee inspect each structure to check if it complies with the blueprint. Safety is non-negotiable.”
Feel the intensity
Imagine the pace – the team races against the clock to get each component into place, hands moving fast, minds focused, all the while knowing they are being judged on safety, speed, and teamwork. Every beam, every connection, every step counts. It’s a test of who can stay calm under pressure while staying focused on safety.
And the energy doesn’t stop there. With System Scaffold materials provided by sponsor AT-PAC, these professionals will work with the best in the industry to build structures that must be scrutinized for both speed and safety.

Education and action: fall prevention takes center stage
The competition doesn’t stop after the contest. On January 22 and 23, SAIA will hold Fall Prevention Presentations, hosted by Becky Danielson, Fall Prevention Committee Chair. This is not your typical sit-and-listen conference. Becky’s presentation will be hands-on, focusing on real-life rescue techniques and continuing the educational content of her four-part webinar series.
“Fall protection is critical in our industry,” Davis said. “Becky will dive into practical lifesaving techniques and show attendees how to stay safe under pressure.”
Why this event is important
In addition to the excitement of the competition, this competition also highlights the true spirit of the scaffolding industry – Safety firstalways. SAIA’s mission is to raise awareness of the importance of site safety and to demonstrate the high level of training and skills required to construct every scaffold.
“This event is more than just a race,” Davis said. “It’s about showing the world how to do this safely and correctly while pushing the limits of speed and teamwork.”
