Skoda Kylaq SUV spied testing again ahead of its India launch;

Skoda Auto has revealed the name of its first sub-4-meter SUV, the Kylaq. A new spy video of the SUV has surfaced online, showcasing the expected key design elements. The Kylaq is set to enter one of the most competitive segments in the market, sharing the MQB-A0-IN platform with the Kushaq and Slavia. Upon its launch in the Indian market, the upcoming Skoda model will compete with the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Mahindra 3X0, Maruti Suzuki Brezza and Tata Nexon. Here is all you need to know about the upcoming Kylaq subcompact SUV.

Skoda Kylaq SUV: Design elements

In the latest spy video, the test vehicle of the car can be seen equipped with a single-pane electric sunroof. However, the top-of-the-line model of the new Kylaq is expected to be the only model equipped with alloy wheels and a single-pane sunroof. The model will be available in a variety of exterior color options, and red paint is one of the colors. Split headlights will be standard on the Kylaq, along with new LED daytime running lights (DRL). In addition, the SUV will also be equipped with inverted L-shaped LED taillights and a transparent taillight lens system. The car will also have design elements such as roof rails, a tailgate-mounted license plate holder, a shark fin antenna, and a slightly sloping C-pillar.

Skoda Kylaq SUV: Powertrain options

The sub-4-metre Skoda Kylaq compact SUV will be powered by a 1.0-litre three-cylinder TSI petrol engine, enabling the manufacturer to take advantage of the tax rates applicable to SUVs in this segment. The car is likely to be offered with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic torque converter gearbox. The engine will output a maximum power of 114bhp and a peak torque of 178Nm.

Skoda Kylaq SUV: Features

Talking about the features, the new Kylaq is expected to come with amenities like a fully digital driver display, automatic climate control, wireless phone charger, sunroof, and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It is also likely to come with a 360-degree camera, ADAS features, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), ISOFIX child seat mounts, up to six airbags, and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) for safety.

Skoda Kylaq SUV: India launch and expected prices

Kylaq is expected to make its global debut at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo in January next year. According to multiple market reports, the production of the SUV may start by the end of this year and go on sale in February 2025.
