Interesting Find: 1957 Chevrolet 150
150 yes Chevrolet's lowest trim level for 1957, the Utility Sedan was the plainest of the austere lineup. Its target audience is traveling salesmen and industry insiders. However, this model was equipped with twin four-cylinder 283 engines delivering 270 horsepower, which was quite unusual for the economy-minded businessman. Is it fair to assume that the original owner, with racing intentions, ordered the lightest Chevrolet with the second-hottest engine in the range? At Barrett-Jackson's 2024 Scottsdale Fall Auction, the bow tie found a new owner for $41,800. What marriage taught me about cars
Today marks my Second wedding anniversary. If you asked my wife, Eli, what it's like to live with me, she'd probably tell you that I can somehow associate anything, no matter how random, with a car. I didn't need to go out of my way to understand our shared history because we already spent so much time in a variety of cars, trucks, and SUVs. Through these experiences, I learned the following lessons: things have changed Photo credit: Nissan The week my wife and I went on our first date, I was testing a Nissan Titan XD with a 5.0-liter Cummins turbodiesel V8. Wanting to impress her, I told her I was reviewing a new pickup truck that I could use to pick her up. She gave me the address of her apartment building and the rest is history. I didn't expect to see her there at the time, but that was nearly ten years ago. These days, women seem…

Shelby American shows us the 2024 Baja Raptor
Even before a new car After the launch, the company behind it asked, "What's next?" It started thinking about the limitations of the upcoming model and how to overcome them in the next generation. Apparently, when Shelby American looked at the Ford F-150 Raptor and Raptor R and asked this question, the answer was "more." Shelby American President Gary Patterson explains what exactly that means by giving us a closer look at the 2024 Baja Raptor R, one of two models in the company's new Baja Raptor lineup. The $61,995 EcoBoost package for V6-powered Raptors and the $64,995 Raptor R package for supercharged V8 models both add a comprehensive list of cosmetic and mechanical upgrades. Appearing in Barrett-Jackson: 1955 Mercedes-Benz 190 SL
if you walk Walk into a typical full-line automaker dealership and you'll see a wide variety of models designed to serve a variety of different customers. For those who want to have fun and bring friends, there's a sports sedan. Those who want more storage space while still saving money on gas can buy a small crossover. For buyers who make a living hauling heavy materials and pulling trailers full of equipment, the dealer will be happy to provide them with a truck. However, there will always be some gaps left. What about those who want a station wagon? Or an old car? That’s what makes the Barrett-Jackson Auction so exciting. It's no exaggeration to say that it has something for everyone, whether it's an upcoming first-production model, a modern classic, a heavily modified pickup truck, an old muscle car, or an old-school European sports car like this 1955 Mercedes Mercedes-Benz 190 SL. Future Collectible Car Show Fall 2024
none of us There's a crystal ball, but if we did this, what do you think it would tell us about the cars that will become collectibles in the future and the people who drive them? Barrett-Jackson has long been a supporter of the next generation of collector car owners. After all, this hobby needs to continue for decades to come. This is my story from the Future Collectible Car Show (FCCS) in January. Just nine months later, we're back at FCCS again for the Westworld Barrett-Jackson 2024 Scottsdale Fall Auction. Photo courtesy of Barrett-Jackson The theme of the FCCS is diversity: 30 different makes of vehicles were registered for the event, with model years ranging from 1965 to 2024. This distribution illustrates the concept that there is no right or wrong answer for year or type of car someone chooses to save and display. The reality is that, like any other material possession, a vehicle can mean very different…

The new 2025 electric version of Cadillac's legendary SUV, the Cadillac Escalade IQ, has VIN 001 donated by General Motors and is priced at a whopping $550,000, with proceeds going to the Detroit Children's Foundation. 2024 Barrett-Jackson Top 10 Saturday Sales
Saturday may be For most people, October 12th is the first day of the weekend, but at the Barrett-Jackson 2024 Scottsdale Fall Auction, October 12th is like Christmas, the Super Bowl, and you ’s birthday is the same. Appearing in Barrett-Jackson: 1953 Allstate
our modern world has brought about the opportunity to order cars over the Internet, but this is not necessarily a new concept. Sears, a department store giant whose catalog was arguably the Amazon before Amazon, also used to sell cars — as did its own brands. One of these cars just sold at Barrett-Jackson's 2024 Scottsdale Fall Auction. Allstate was sold by Sears in 1952-53 and disappeared without a trace. Built in conjunction with Kaiser-Frazer, the Allstate is basically a badge-engineered version of the Kaiser Henry J. Four- and six-cylinder versions are available, all with styling and interior tweaks to distinguish them from using Henry J/Allstate-branded components other than Sears' Allstate, such as spark plugs, tires and batteries. Since Kaiser-Frazer's contract with Sears stipulates the sale of 1,000 vehicles per year as part of a test market, Allstate sold about 2,000 vehicles in total. The one featured at Barrett-Jackson's 2024 Scottsdale fall auction was originally a 134ci Continental Quad '53…

Top 10 Sales from Friday at the 2024 Barrett-Jackson Auction
you can feel the energy in the airgenerated and shared by everyone involved in the Westworld Barrett-Jackson 2024 Scottsdale Fall Auction. That energy is unleashed every Friday when heavy cannons are fired across the stage, and crowds let out oohs and aahs when the gavel strikes. It might seem like just another day at the Barrett-Jackson auction, but considering the antics of philanthropists Michelle Mauzy and Joe Reilly, we can tell you it's anything but typical. Thank you to longtime Barrett-Jackson friends Mike and Tracy Patterson for donating a 2024 Ford Mustang Dark Horse to charity to directly benefit Samaritan’s Purse to aid Florida, Georgia and hurricane relief efforts in North Carolina. Maury was the initial winner with a bid of $350,000 and then generously donated the pony car back for a second auction, which Riley won with the winning bid of $250,000. On display at Barrett-Jackson: 1956 Pontiac Chieftain Wagon
Owns more than 1,000 vehicles There are plenty of beautiful things to choose from at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Fall Auctions, from dazzling restorations and over-the-top restorations to more basic fare. I've always admired the latter because it's nice to see cars that were once common but are no longer common. Station wagons are high on that list, and this 1956 Pontiac is worth checking out. Finished in Camellia and Phantom Gray Metallic, this Chieftain wagon looks pristine and is one of several 1956 Pontiac dealerships to sell. The Chieftain range includes the 860 and 870 estates, both of which are remnants of an old era when manufacturers used numbers that looked odd but had no context. The wagon was initially the 860 two-door wagon and later the 860 four-door wagon, offering three rows of seating. The more upscale 870 four-door wagon offers only two rows of seats. 1956 Pontiac Safari Pontiac has another station wagon in its lineup, this one…

in this episode We from AutoHunter Cinema feature a beautifully restored 1988 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. Originally from New Mexico, this classic SUV was purchased in 2016 and then underwent a 4.5-year teardown restoration where every number-matching part and accessory was removed and rebuilt. The bodywork requires no filler, and the yellowed plastic drip rails are replaced with stainless steel units. In addition to using POR-15 products to repair frame and chassis components, all rubber components, weather stripping and hoses were replaced with OEM or aircraft grade materials. Interior updates include new door lock actuators, power window motors, under-dash access, and sound deadening materials. NASCAR History Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Fall Auction
as former owner As far as a Pace car from Dover Downs goes, I tend to like Pace cars as well as replicas for sale to the public. I know I'm not alone, because the Chevrolet Heritage Collection features a variety of admirable race cars from two popular NASCAR racing events. Twenty-one of the works will be offered at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Fall Auction at Westworld, October 10-13, 2024. While the most famous pace cars come from the Indianapolis 500, the following featured cars come from Indy's Brickyard 400, which has been part of the NASCAR series since 1994. While not officially roadworthy, the horsepower and custom livery of the featured race cars below set them apart from the mainstream models sold to the public. 2007 Chevrolet Corvette Z06The 2007 Corvette Z06 needs no introduction, but in case you need a reminder, it's a sibling C6 powered by a 505-horsepower LS7 7.0-liter small-block mated to a six-speed manual transmission. Super Cats: Mercury Cougar Troika – 1968, 1969, 1970
AutoHunter Cinema Presents Three Mercury Cougars have been introduced for three consecutive years, although model year isn't the only distinguishing feature. One of these was a 427-equipped 1968 GT-E, a one-year-old performance car that was the only (and last) FoMoCo to receive a 427 that year. The other, a '69 car with a Cobra Jet, was a giveaway from Car Craft magazine and perfectly captured the culture of the time. Finally, there's the '70 Eliminator, which combines top-end performance options with a special black paint, a color not offered on the Eliminator. We acquired these three pieces at the 2024 Scottsdale Barrett-Jackson Auction. Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Falls Collectible Corvette
in some waysit’s easy to quantify the Chevrolet Corvette. Over 70 years of (almost continuous) production. Eight generations. Two doors. But how many milestones has it reached since 1953? Too many to list here. However, you can bid to win some of these pieces at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Fall Auction at Westworld, October 10-13, 2024. Ten Corvettes from David Ressler's collection will cross the auction block, including the three below.1978 Chevrolet Corvette 25th Anniversary Edition (Lot #78.5)There are no guarantees in the automotive industry. Just because a car sells well for several years doesn't mean it will continue on that trajectory. Many models didn't even make it to the second generation. The Chevrolet Corvette defied economic recession, demographic and cultural shifts, regulatory changes and the 1973 oil embargo to celebrate its 25th anniversary in 1978. Chevrolet is commemorating the occasion with a special edition Corvette coupe that's instantly recognizable. It has two-tone silver paint and pinstripes. Judging by the options…

Interesting Find: 1970 and 1971 Plymouth Cuda
Which 'Cuda is better? AutoHunter Cinema compares the performance version of the 1970 Barracuda to the facelifted 1971 model. Performance pickups quickly moved up to Barrett-Jackson
What to Expect What cars will you see at the inaugural Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Fall Auction, October 10-13 at WestWorld? A little bit of everything. If you like exotic supercars, you'll find them there. Same with muscle cars. A big fan of classic American cars? You'll see a few at the auction (and you might get the winning bid on your favorite). If you're more into high-performance trucks, don't worry—they'll be at the event, too. In fact, we've highlighted a few of them below. Modified 1990 Chevrolet 454 SS Think of it as the original modern sport truck. Introduced in 1990, the Chevrolet 454 SS predated the first-generation Ford F-150 SVT lightning and long before the Viper V10-powered Dodge Ram SRT-10. It set the template for sport trucks of the time: a single-cab pickup with plenty of power under the hood, a short bed and rear-wheel drive. Chevrolet initially offered a C1500 with the top-of-the-line Silverado trim and a 6.5-foot short…
