Dodge Challenger seat backs recalled to check striker
FCA is recalling 3,000 2023 Dodge Challengers whose seat backs may not lock. August 11, 2024 — A recall has been announced for the Dodge Challenger seat backs because the left rear seat back may not lock in the upright position. About 3,000 vehicles in the U.S. and Canada are being recalled so dealers can adjust the seatback latches, if necessary. FCA received reports in August that the left rear seatback in the 2023 Dodge Challenger would not lock, increasing the risk of injury in a crash. Chrysler said the left rear seatback striker may not be properly aligned during assembly. Federal safety standards require that seat backs be locked. Dodge Challenger seat back recall letters will be mailed on August 15, 2024, but owners with questions should call 800-853-1403. FCA's Challenger seat back recall number is 38B.
Dodge Challenger hits and kills woman during test drive in Odessa, Texas
Odessa resident Benjamin Means was test driving a Dodge Challenger at 124 mph. July 27, 2024 — A mother of two was killed in a fatal Dodge Challenger test drive when the driver was driving more than 120 mph in a 45 mph zone and struck another vehicle. Now a lawsuit claims the dealership, dealer salesperson and the driver of the Dodge Challenger should be paid at least $1 million for the fatal crash. The Texas lawsuit names Lithia Motors (Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Odessa National), car salesman Kenneth Salas, and Benjamin Kyle Meece, who was driving the 2021 Dodge Challenger during a test drive.
