Ford Mustang recalled due to dashboard failure
Ford is recalling 6,200 Mustangs because the dashboard cluster may appear black. November 4, 2024 — More than 6,200 2024 Ford Mustangs are being recalled because the instrument panel may not light up when the vehicle is started or driven. The instrument cluster displays key information to the driver (speed, warning lights, instruments, etc.). Caution lights (warning lights) are required by law, but for Ford Bronco drivers, these lights won't appear because the dashboard is black. According to Ye Ye’s recollections: "Due to a software initialization issue in the Remote Cluster Box (RCB), a low voltage event may result in loss of communications." Ford learned of the issue during a warranty claim analysis process in August, but no other Ford vehicles have experienced the problem. On the one hand, this means that many of them have been rescued from the barn and restored to (sometimes more than) their former glory. On the other hand, a lot of them come with lifts and aftermarket wheels and tires, so it's hard to see an original Bronco among all the modifications. As our Pick of the Day, this 1970 Ford Mustang seems to fall somewhere in between those two extremes. As part of a detailed restoration, the first-generation Bronco's frame was powder-coated. The bodywork was media blasted and then covered in new Wimbledon White and Vesta Orange paint, followed by a five-year ceramic protective coating about a year ago. September 16, 2024 — Ford is recalling more than 5,200 Mustangs because the rear suspension knuckle could fail, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The recalled 2024 Ford Mustang rear suspension steering knuckles may have a casting defect that could weaken the components and cause the driver to lose vehicle handling and steering control. According to Ford: “When a parts supplier produces a steering knuckle, the debris filter may be improperly positioned during the casting process, causing slag to enter the part cavity and cause casting defects.” Ford learned of the issue through warranty reports of broken rear suspension knuckles in 2024 Mustangs, but has not received any reports of accidents or injuries. Ford is recalling 30,000 Mustangs because the steering wheel may suddenly turn left or right. July 3, 2024 — Certain Ford Mustang steering wheels may have lifespan issues, according to a recall on 2022-2023 Mustang vehicles. More than 30,700 Ford Mustangs may have an assisted steering torque sensor that is not calibrated correctly. The interesting part is as follows. The issue could cause the Mustang's "steering wheel to turn left or right against the driver's intent." Ford described the problem in detail: “The secondary digital torque sensor in the steering unit is calibrated with reversed polarity.
