Ford OTA update failure may cause critical brake failure
Ford was forced to recall Mustang Mach-E models due to problems with over-the-air updates. In addition to disabling ABS, ESC and traction control, OTA also reduces regenerative braking. Pick of the Day: 1970 Ford Mustang “T5”
Ford Mustang It was Detroit's postwar success story, but Ford ran into problems selling the model in Germany. It seems that a company that makes trucks owns the rights to the name. Our Pick of the Day is a 1970 Ford T5 SportsRoof, one of the cars that solves this problem. It is listed for sale on ClassicCars.com by a dealer in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. (Click this link to view the list.) The problem with the Mustang fell to Krupp Steel (now ThyssenKrupp). Krupp's history includes artillery, railroads, tanks and trucks, and it was the production of the latter from 1951 to 1968 that put Ford in trouble until the trademark expired in 1973. That's why the Ford Mustang has another name in Germany. Where did T5 come from? This was Ford's internal code when the original Mustang was taking shape. Why is the production car called T5? I can only suspect that branding the Mustang with another name is…

Pick of the Day: 1956 Ford Thunderbird
"In just one year, "It won the hearts of all Americans," a 1956 television ad said of the latest version of the Thunderbird. "Notice how the spare is packaged and mounted outside the car. This gives the Thunderbird a longer, smarter profile." Ford also touts the car's "lifesaver" safety features, such as a deep-center steering wheel, padded dashboard, nylon seat belts and dual-handle door locks. The car was forward-thinking for its time, and 68 years later, it still holds a special place in the hearts of fans. Today's pick is a 1956 Ford Thunderbird for sale on ClassicCars.com from a private seller in Melville, New York. (Click the link to see the list) "Imagine yourself behind the wheel of this beautiful, restored Thunderbird convertible," the listing reads. "Be the third owner of this classic car that runs great and looks even better." The car features a two-tone Raven Black and Black and White vinyl interior, giving it an elegant, formal…
Ford truck roof collapse lawsuit: Partial dismissal
The roof of the Ford Super Truck allegedly collapsed during the rollover crash. October 5, 2024 — A Ford truck roof collapse lawsuit will continue in court, but a federal judge dismissed several claims. The Ford Super Duty roof class action lawsuit involves more than 5 million trucks whose roofs are said to be too weak to handle rollover accidents, causing the roofs to collapse. The Super Duty roof lawsuit covers all 1999-2016 Ford F-250, F-350, F-450 and F-550 Super Duty trucks in the United States Lawyers began filing multiple Ford truck roof lawsuits after a Georgia jury awarded $1.7 billion to a family in a 2002 Ford 250 Super Duty rollover crash that occurred in 2014. The first Ford truck roof collapse class action lawsuit was filed just weeks after the verdict in the $1.7 billion Hill v. Ford case, all of which allege Ford knew about the defective roof before selling the first Super Duty in 1999. Hill's…
Ford Edge brake hoses may be subject to recall
The United States has launched an investigation into complaints of faulty brake hoses on the 2015-2017 Edge SUV. October 5, 2024 — Ford Edge brake hose failures are under investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, following 36 complaints alleging a loss of braking ability on 2015-2017 Ford Edge SUVs. Ford Edge owners reported losing braking ability due to a faulty rear brake hose, and the owners received no warning of the problem. At the very least, Ford Edge owners are faced with increased stopping distances. Some complaining Ford Edge owners said their vehicles had been previously serviced for brake issues. In August 2020, Ford recalled nearly 559,000 2015-2018 Ford Edge and 2016-2018 Lincoln MKX SUVs due to brake hose issues. But this recall involves the front brake bump hose, not the rear brake hose. In a 2020 Ford recall, the automaker discovered that a front brake bump hose ruptured and leaked brake fluid, causing problems for drivers when…
Pick of the Day: 1967 Ford Mustang GT Fastback
Ford Mustang were the most important vehicles in Detroit in the 1960s, but which one was the most important? Our Daily Picks are my submissions to answer this tough question. This 1967 Ford Mustang GT 2+2 is listed on ClassicCars.com for sale by a dealer in Green Brook, New Jersey. (Click the link to see the list) If you consider that the 1965 Mustang was the most important year for pony cars, especially the mid-1964 models, they excited Americans more than any other car (despite being introduced very early, both based on the VIN) is from 1965). But the 1967 Mustang—the first redesign—is key to the Mustang's past and future. Let's talk styling first: The 1967 Mustang was very similar to the classic 1965-66 version, but was larger and more refined. The stance is firmer, the styling is more properly integrated (no additional taillights, for example), the interior is more refined (no more under-dash air conditioning), and the options list…
Diego’s AutoHunter Picks | ClassicCars.com Magazine
I'm starting to lose interest I started getting into new cars around 2001 when I left an advertising agency in Detroit. Apparently, I no longer keep my finger on the pulse of the market. Visits to international car shows are becoming increasingly rare. result? I've lost touch - don't ask me when the Mustang was redesigned because I'm not sure if it was 2013 or 2014 (answer: 2015 model year). Don't ask me about horsepower over the years. These AutoHunter Picks mostly cater to the muscle memory in my head: classics from another era. But that's not to say my desires are discriminatory, as the Porsche I chose would be a great daily driver and, unfortunately, might make me forget about the classics, as many of you Hellcat Dodge Challenger owners have discovered That way. 1968 Buick GS 400 ConvertibleI wrote about this car in the ClassicCars.com Daily Pick about 18 months ago and now it's featured on AutoHunter -…
Pick of the Day: 1970 Ford Mustang
this Daily Picks It's a 1970 Ford Mustang listed on ClassicCars.com by a California dealer. Classic SUVs have become increasingly popular over the past few years. On the one hand, this means that many of them have been rescued from the barn and restored to (sometimes more than) their former glory. On the other hand, a lot of them come with lifts and aftermarket wheels and tires, so it's hard to see an original Bronco among all the modifications. As our Pick of the Day, this 1970 Ford Mustang seems to fall somewhere in between those two extremes. As part of a detailed restoration, the first-generation Bronco's frame was powder-coated. The bodywork was media blasted and then covered in new Wimbledon White and Vesta Orange paint, followed by a five-year ceramic protective coating about a year ago. This high-contrast combination makes it instantly recognizable as a classic Mustang. Apparently, this 1970s model has also been modified. However, these upgrades work…

Pick of the Day: 1980 Ford Pinto
not much love As for the Ford Pinto, it's the most maligned "male era" American car this side of the AMC Pacer. Put aside the cliche tailgating jokes and other disparaging remarks, and you'll find that the Pinot sat somewhere in the middle of the pack among economy cars of the era. However, the 1980 Ford Pinto hatchback we selected as today's pick overcomes its genetic shortcomings to become a more interesting vehicle. It is listed on ClassicCars.com by a private seller in Oklahoma City. (Click the link to view the list) When Ford launched the compact Falcon in 1960, it was in response to the Volkswagen Beetle. So why do you need a micro Pinto? Due to the influx of Japanese microcars, these cars became popular on American roads, especially in the United States and on both coasts. The Pinto made its debut in September 1970, initially as a two-door sedan, followed by the Runabout hatchback in February 1971.…
