New Honda Amaze First Drive review: Next generation or facelift?
Honda may be the last major carmaker in India to enter the compact SUV segment with the Elevate. They've launched a very impressive product, but their late entry means they've lost much of the market share to rival brands that have been in the compact SUV market for almost a decade. The subcompact sedan segment, on the other hand, tells a different story. The Honda Amaze has been around for a while now and is doing quite well. Toyota Fortuner to get new gasoline turbocharger In addition to increased power output, the new Toyota engine will deliver higher driving range and support carbon-neutral fuel While the auto industry's goals are largely geared toward electrification, Toyota is one of the few car companies that continues to focus on internal combustion engines and hybrid vehicles. Leveraging the new generation
Coherent multi-source agreement (MSA) pluggable modules have played a key role in expanding deployment scenarios for network operators, and the introduction of 400G modules has driven near-term network transformation opportunities. We have seen the introduction of various 400G MSA pluggable products drive the adoption of recent IP-over-DWDM architectures, enabling direct router-to-router metro connections over fiber and higher port density transponder designs. The Optical Internetworking Forum (OIF) launched the 400G MSA pluggable generation and developed the 400ZR implementation agreement, enabling point-to-point amplified links up to 120 km running at 60+Gbaud data rates. Around the same time frame, the OpenROADM MSA defined 400G interfaces for ROADM networks and extended reach; the OpenZR+ MSA leverages these higher performance interfaces to enable interoperable enhanced performance links for 400G pluggable modules (Figure 1). The introduction of high transmit optical power (>0dBm) ZR+ modules, such as Acacia’s Bright 400ZR+ module, further expands the 400G MSA pluggable space to include brownfield ROADM network architectures (existing transponder channels…

Learn more about UFI’s Next Generation Leadership Grant Program
for Young Professionals Recognition Program Guidelines, TSE spoke with Joe Kowalsky, 2022 UFI Next Generation Leadership (NGL) Award winner, Events Director at CloserStill Media and 2024 TSE Trailblazer, about his experiences. What was the application process like and was it difficult/easy to get your organization to support your application given the nature of the project the awardees had to complete? Joe: The NGL application process is deceptively simple. We give you a topic that our industry is looking for new perspectives on and ask for your thoughts. The entire process is you sharing your thoughts on what you think a certain topic could bring to our industry. It seems simple: write a short letter introducing your idea and submit a video presenting your concepts and understanding. However, the amount of times I had to rewrite the letter and have to stop the video and start over from scratch made the process challenging. There was always something I wanted to add…

Now, 35 years later, we're counting on you to tell us which generation is the best. It would be easy to give all the credit to the latest (and perhaps greatest) MX-5, known internally as the ND. Currently producing 181 horsepower (135…

No GM oil consumption class action in Missouri
Judge decertifies GM class action lawsuit over excessive oil consumption in 5.3-liter Vortecs July 2, 2024 — The Missouri General Motors oil consumption class action lawsuit is no longer a class action. Plaintiff Robert Riddell purchased a new 2012 Chevrolet Silverado equipped with a fourth-generation 5.3-liter V8 Vortec 5300 engine. According to the lawsuit, the Vortec 5300 engine had defective piston rings that caused excessive oil consumption. Without adequate oil, the engine will not be lubricated and components will not be protected from wear and damage. The plaintiffs claimed that the engines could fail completely and that GM had long known that the piston rings were defective. GM allegedly concealed the excessive oil consumption problem in its advertising, and the plaintiff claimed that he would not have purchased the truck or would have paid less if GM had disclosed the alleged excessive oil consumption problem. GM has been sued numerous times for excessive oil consumption, but most class-action lawsuits have…
Women’s History Month: Empowering the Next Generation
Jennifer Knight is the Deputy Assistant Secretary of ITA Textiles, Consumer Goods, Materials Industry, Critical Minerals and Metals Women’s History Month is an opportunity to honor the legacy of women who came before us and look ahead to the future of women and girls. At the International Trade Administration (ITA), we believe investing in young women means investing in a future where women can lead without limits. We also believe in committing to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility not just through words, but through actions. This starts with addressing barriers to inclusive economic growth and empowering women in our own communities. I recently attended a presentation at the Department of Commerce by three University of Delaware fashion and apparel masters students, Kendall Ludwig, Miranda Rack, and Hannah Laurits. Their research explored opportunities for sustainable apparel and the U.S.’s leadership in the production of technical textiles for industries such as pharmaceuticals and automotive. The presentation also highlighted the competitiveness and recent…
