The new Passport prototype made its debut shortly after Honda released an official teaser
- The 2026 Honda Passport has been spotted in the wild, and its off-road capabilities suggest it is the Trailsport edition.
- The company promises that the new Passport will be the “most adventurous and capable Honda SUV yet.”
- It has been officially confirmed that the film will premiere early next year.
Our spy photographers captured this camouflaged prototype while testing on public roads ahead of the 2026 Honda Passport’s debut in early 2025.
The new generation SUV has a boxier profile than the previous generation, with a flatter roofline and a more upright rear. Heavy camouflage obscures the details, but we can see that the headlights are sharper and the taillights are larger.

As part of the official teaser, Honda revealed that amber daytime running lights will be a Trailsport-specific styling feature, which is evident on the prototype. This adventure-oriented trim will also feature Trailsport badging on the grille and additional off-road equipment. The prototype’s rugged alloy wheels are shod with General Grabber A/T Sport tires (275/60R18), which sounds like a suitable choice for the production model.
Likewise, the dual exhaust pipes appear to be designed to improve departure angles, while the roof rails are more prominent than before. Photos of the interior show a free-standing infotainment display mounted high on the center console, similar to the Honda Pilot.

Honda says the new Passport will be the “most adventurous and capable Honda SUV yet,” combining “off-road capability, versatility and innovative features.” While the automaker is keeping details tight, the 2026 Honda Passport is expected to share underpinnings with the larger Pilot, which enters its fourth generation in 2023.
Under the hood, the SUV will most likely retain the 3.5-liter V6 powertrain that made its debut in the outgoing Passport in 2019, producing 280 hp (209 kW / 284 PS) and 262 lb-ft (355 Nm) of torque.
We look forward to learning more about the 2026 Honda Passport as it approaches its official debut next year. Honda will likely want to continue its teaser campaign in the coming months to further showcase the rugged styling of the reborn SUV.
