Diego’s AutoHunter Picks | ClassicCars.com Magazine
by the time As you read this, I will have spent the week at the Barrett-Jackson 2025 Scottsdale Auction. That's not the only game in town, however - AutoHunter has tons of cars up for bid every day. This makes it easier for me to curate my AutoHunter picks, considering that AutoHunter doesn't have over 2,000 cars to choose from like Barrett-Jackson. How lucky I am! Daily Pick: 2009 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG
I still remember fondly The first day of the C63 press conference. It was held in Paradise Valley, Arizona, and it was my first time riding in a car. After a few miles we came to a traffic light. What should be parked next to me but a Ferrari 355 Spyder. This guy literally defines the Ferrari driver stereotype: wearing a Ferrari Polo shirt, a two-tone Rolex Datejust, Persol sunglasses, and sitting in the passenger seat is a woman one-third his age. He looked at the C63 with little interest, noting the wider fenders and huge tires (not to mention the exhaust note our car made). When the light came on, he took off with a lot of noise and wheelspin, but we were already about 50 yards ahead of him. When he met us at the next traffic light, he looked at our silver sedan in confusion. "What the hell is that Mercedes? I really want to catch you!"…

Daily Picks: 1998 Mercedes-Benz SL500
Last weekend At the Radnor Hunt Antique Car Show in Pennsylvania, I had the opportunity to test drive my friend Tim McNair's Mercedes-Benz SL500. This was exciting because, up until that point, I had only put about 10 miles on one. I had heard about how good they were, but I had yet to truly experience one. The SL500 that Tim had was a great example, with only 25,000 original miles on it, and was a great example of how a good SL500 should drive. I have to tell you, the SL500 is a near-perfect 1990s GT car. It's the kind of car you can take to local car shows, Mercedes club events, work, or even off-road. It's built and finished to perfection, and these cars drive just as well as their fans say they do. If there's a better deal on a high-end convertible European GT, I can't think of one that does. Our pick for today is one…

The benefits of owning a boring car
As I told you In my recent article, I wrote that owning a collector car has many benefits. Every time you see it, you fall in love with it all over again, and you have your own unique piece of automotive history. But that doesn't mean that regular, everyday cars are bad. Yes, they're not as inspiring or illuminating.Britainbut they also have many positive qualities. Peace of mind and body Owning a restored vintage or limited edition car is wonderful. But it can also be stressful. You don’t want to dent or scratch any car you drive, but the risk is higher with a collector car. It’s not a travel vehicle, it’s a symbol of achievement, and you want to protect it and keep it in tip-top shape. No one uses a diploma as a coaster or a wedding ring as a keychain. Driving a boring car is less stressful. When things do happen (and they will), no matter how…

Mercedes-Benz CLE 300 Cabriolet review: The perfect convertible
There are some experiences in life that become iconic not because of the experience itself, but because of the memories it evokes in you. These experiences match your interest in cars, which is largely personal and subjective. I am a child of the 90s and I still remember watching I Love You for the first time on the big screen. Three friends, a trip to Goa and a convertible SL Mercedes. I can clearly remember the nervousness in my heart, but for whatever reason, I can't remember the rest of the plot. It obviously left a lasting impact. Yes, I know we won't be reviewing the Mercedes SL in the next few pages, but convertible Mercedes will always be special to me. The car we are going to talk about today is the new CLE 300 Cabriolet. It is built as a replacement for the C-Class, E-Class and S-Class Cabriolet, all in one unit. This means, it aims to be…
