Ford Mustang attempts to race in the wet
The V8 muscle car skids across the road and nearly hits a traffic light. Turning off your Mustang's traction control system in the wet is a recipe for disaster. Drivers of Ford Mustangs have developed something of a reputation for losing control in situations where most of the car remains stable. So when the skies clear and the roads become slippery, the likelihood of a wild horse accident increases dramatically. That's why it's so refreshing to see the dashcam-equipped driver in the video make a wise decision: He chose not to drag race his Mustang in a wet intersection. As for the Bronco drivers, well... they play a role in keeping the stereotype alive. var adpushup = window.adpushup = window.adpushup || {que:()}; adpushup.que.push(function() { if (adpushup.config.platform !== "DESKTOP"){ adpushup.triggerAd("0f7e3106 -c4d6-4db4-8135-c508879a76f8"); } else { adpushup.triggerAd("82503191-e1d1-435a-874f-9c78a2a54a2f"); This video was originally shared on Redditshows the driver pulling away from the lights relatively quickly with a dashcam, with a black Mustang in the lane…

The car rental giant has quietly dropped the price of its exclusive Shelby-modified Ford Mustang Mach-E GT, making it possible to get a car with extremely low mileage for just $60,000. Let's say you're ready to spend that much cash on a car that you previously leased. That's a big change compared to some of the other electric cars Hertz has sold in recent months, especially considering the new Mustang…

Ford Mustang outsells non-existent rivals (except electric cars)
Despite the lack of direct competition, Sales of conventional gasoline Ford Mustang coupes and convertibles declined in 2024, but were once again surpassed by the electric Mustang Mach-E. Last year marked the first full year of production for the redesigned 2024 Ford Mustang, codenamed S650, after its launch in mid-2023. Pick of the Day: 1968 Ford Mustang 428 CJ
Ford Motor Company was In the 1960s, with its "Total Performance" racing program, the program launched a full-scale attack on nearly every form of automotive competition around the world. However, FoMoCo's lineup is missing something that can be found on the high street. AutoHunter Spotlight: 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback
when people ask me As for what I would recommend as their first classic American car purchase, I almost always give the same answer: a Ford Mustang. The 1964.5-1970 Ford Mustang is the most supportive and simple classic American car you can own. There are literally hundreds of quality restoration parts suppliers, and they are almost universally respected in every field of car collecting enthusiasts, and they look great and are fun to drive. Of all the Mustangs produced from 1964 to 1970, my favorite body style is the 1965 to 1966 Fastback 2+2. To me, they are one of the top five postwar American automobile designs and one of the best standard production automobile designs of the 20th century. The fusion of European and American styles allows designers to make everything perfect. If you doubt that, ask yourself why Ford has used the '65-'66 Fastback since 2005 as the template for the Mustang's basic design. One of those truly…
Ford’s electric Mustang Mach-E outsells gas Mustang
Ford Mustang sports car sales hit a record low, totaling just 44,003 units in 2024. The Mustang Mach-E electric crossover outsold its namesake sports car by 7,700 units. Ford's sales of electric and hybrid vehicles are surging, but growth in gasoline-powered vehicles has all but stalled. The Dodge Challenger and Chevrolet Camaro are now long out of production, leaving the Ford Mustang as the last true muscle car. You'd think this would send Mustang sales through the roof. Safari Style ’68 Ford Mustang Is a Mustang
Just don't try to treat this Coyote V8-powered Restomo like a Mustang Raptor and you'll be fine A 1968 Mustang with off-road equipment sounds awesome, until you look closely. It features a modern Coyote V8 engine and manual transmission as well as off-road tires. At the same time, it might not really be ready for hardcore off-road duty. The Ford Mustang has long been a favorite canvas for tuning enthusiasts—and for good reason. Its iconic shape, raw performance potential and deep connection to American automotive culture made it a natural choice to blend classic aesthetics with modern engineering. But this particular Mustang deviates from the usual mold. It adds off-road equipment to make it look like a pony car that can go anywhere. While it might actually be able to go toe-to-toe with a true Safari-style car, it's a stunning Mustang you can buy. My classic car: 1968 Ford Mustang
If you too have a classic car with a story, please visit Click this link and fill out the information to submit your story for a chance to be featured in ClassicCars.com magazine. my story begins with My wife's high school car was a 1968 Mustang coupe with a luxurious interior. The vehicle is assembled at a factory in San Jose, California, not far from where we live. My wife drove the car every day from 1986 (when we purchased the vehicle for $3,000 with 41,000 miles on it) until 2013 when she purchased a new car. Unfortunately, the Mustang sat idle until last year, when I decided to inspect the entire car to see if it was worth salvaging. Being a true California car, it has never been exposed to salt except for a few trips to the beach. The car has never been in a serious accident, so the bodywork remains original with clean lines. After I inspected…

Why a mystery buyer spent $5 million on a Ford Mustang
A bidder with the username Halfelven on Cars and Bids snapped up dozens of similar Fords and brought a trailer go through Chris Chilton December 21, 2024 13:40 Over the past few years, a single bidder has spent nearly $5 million on car auction sites to purchase two very special models. The bidder, nicknamed Halfelven, has won nearly 50 Ford Mustangs and F-150 Lightnings, among other vehicles. Some Reddit users suggested the seller purchased the vehicle and shipped it overseas, but his identity remains a mystery. Scanning products on Bring a Trailer, Cars and Bid auction sites is a daily ritual for many of us. Some of you might even make a bid or two. But one bidder's activities go far beyond that. He won dozens of auctions on both sites between 2021 and 2023, spending nearly $5 million, mostly on Broncos and F-150 Lightnings. The campaign first came to light after Cars and Bids founder Doug DeMuro mentioned on…
Mustang GTD is the fastest American car in the world
Photo courtesy of Ford Last August, Ford told Its upcoming GT3-derived Mustang GTD has set a sub-7-minute lap time on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. After two years of hard work, Ford achieved its goal. The Mustang GTD recently became the fastest American car ever driven, covering 20.8 kilometers (12.9 miles), 73 turns and 300 meters (984 feet) of elevation change (also known as the "Green Hell"). The folks at Ford Performance and Multimatic Canada started with the basics. They reduced weight by using a GTD carbon fiber body. A hydraulic drag-reduction system opens flaps under the body and adjusts the angle of the C-pillar-mounted rear fenders to take advantage of the air flowing over the lightweight exterior. Ford Performance combines reduced weight with increased output: a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 with 815 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque, and a track-specific dry sump oiling system. That kind of power means nothing without the right driver, so Ford turned to Multimatic Motorsports' Dirk…

Ford Mustang GTD sets new lap record at Nürburgring
The Ford Mustang GTD became the fastest American car on the Nürburgring, beating the Dodge Viper ACR by 4.3 seconds. The Ford Mustang GTD has now become the fastest American production car to lap the legendary 20.8-kilometer Nordschleife circuit, beating the Dodge Viper ACR (7:01:30 minutes) and Lamborghini Aventador SuperVeloce (6:59.73 minutes). According to Ford, the GTD is the sixth "standard" production car in the world to break the seven-minute mark. The road-legal Mustang GTD supercar borrows several design elements from the GT3 race car, such as carbon-ceramic brakes, active aerodynamics with a drag reduction system, semi-active suspension and a large supercharger. In addition to the carbon fiber bodywork, the GTD that raced around the famous circuit was equipped with the motorsport-derived safety equipment required at the Nürburgring, including a roll cage and a…
2000 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R
Photo by Dustin W. Johnson Every Ford Mustang is Subjectively special to its owner. This is a car that is often modified to reflect personality and taste. But what’s special about the 2000 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra R is that objective meaning of the word. They're both high-performance red and instantly identifiable by the front splitter, bulging bonnet and high-mounted rear wing. Ford Hyping Mustang GTD Ahead of December, Nurburgring Time

2003 Ford Mustang Mach 1
past 60 yearsmany things come and go. There have been changes in the presidential administration. MC Hammer was in the spotlight for a while. When my generation was in college, our daily pick—a 2003 Ford Mustang Mach 1—was a new car and a constant daydream of mine. When you're a kid, eating pizza and cake is usually what you do on your birthday. That's part of what makes this set so great. If you eat it every day, it will not be a pleasure. The same goes for certain Mustang models, like the Mach 1: they don't always exist, but when they do, they're special. After being discontinued in the 1970s, the Mustang Mach 1 didn't return until 2003 with the "New Edge" design. Like its predecessor, it has black stripes to…

You know, that kind of “enthusiastic” behavior that looks great on Instagram, but doesn’t actually increase resale value. Launched in 2022, the Shelby GT500-H is the latest in a…
AutoHunter Spotlight: 1985 Ford Mustang GT
sometimes when it comes When it comes to performance cars, less is more. Today, we've become obsessed with driver-assist features, CarPlay integration, and creature comforts that can take away from the raw feeling of driving. This is perhaps one of the reasons why I stick with classic cars rather than demanding the latest automotive technology. I love driving for the sake of driving, not just to get from point A to point B. Today I found a car that I'm excited to put some miles on: Featured on AutoHunter is this 35,000-mile 1985 Ford Mustang GT for sale by a dealer in Apopka, Florida, where the auction ends Tuesday. When you sit in the driver's seat of this Mustang, you'll notice there's no automatic transmission, no air conditioning, and no radio. But on the other hand, the five-speed manual gearbox connects you directly to the car, there's plenty of airflow available (via the removable T-top), and the audio soundtrack is…
Mustang driver almost saved the car as he left it to race – almost
At first, the Mustang seemed to avoid hitting anything — but eventually it did... go through Brad Anderson 13 hours ago A Bronco driver collided with a sign during a car race due to a faulty electric rail. Fortunately, the car did not hit any onlookers. As with many pony crashes, the driver seemed a little too eager to hit the gas. If you're in the market for a powerful rear-wheel-drive sports car, look no further than the Ford Mustang. While it's good that the famous pony cars are relatively cheap, the downside is that they tend to fall into the hands of enthusiasts who don't know what to do with all that power. Case in point: the driver of this black Mustang in the United States. It has become so common these days for Ford Mustang drivers to crash while leaving a stock car event that not having a Mustang crash at a car race is more surprising than…

The Shelby moniker and rarity may make these cars worth the money. Hertz is now preparing to sell part of its Shelby Mustang Mach-E fleet. The cars have special Hertz liveries as well as some unique parts. Sure, the $65,000 price tag might seem a bit steep, but for those who remember how Hertz's past exclusives have appreciated in value, it might not be entirely out of character. var adpushup = window.adpushup = window.adpushup || {que:()}; adpushup.que.push(function() { if (adpushup.config.platform !== "DESKTOP") { adpushup.triggerAd("4d84e4c9 -9937-4f84-82c0-c94544ee6f2a"); } else{ adpushup.triggerAd(" 6a782b01-facb-45f3-a88f-ddf1b1f97657"); } }); This isn't Hertz's first foray into the high-performance car rental business. Back in the 1960s, the company ran its legendary "Rent-A-Racer" program, offering Shelby Mustangs to anyone who wanted to experience high-octane fun, without the need for a dealership. The program didn't last long, but the concept…
No, these aren’t mid-engine Ford Mustang GTD mules
The Ford GTD test car had air vents in the rear, sending the internet into wild speculation, but the truth is the V8 is still under the hood go through Brad Anderson November 5, 2024 20:55 Rear cooling vents on the GTD prototype sparked rumors of a potential mid-engine test mule. The Mustang GTD's rear cooling system is dedicated to the transaxle, not the engine. Ford has equipped its flagship Mustang with an 815-horsepower, 5.2-liter supercharged V8 engine. The Ford Mustang GTD is the fastest, ultimate track-ready muscle car, and while you may have seen posts about it on social media lately, there's no mid-engine version yet. Although it's been more than a year since the Mustang GTD was unveiled to the world, the Blue Oval continues to test lightly camouflaged prototypes around the United States. Vehicles painted in black and white camouflage always attract attention, and recently, some Reddit users online said they had seen prototypes with particularly complex…

1969, winner The winner of the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) Manufacturers' Rally Championship was a Ford Mustang Mach 1. Porsche 911 GT3 and Mustang pitted against each other, but that’s not the case
Mustang drivers get a bad rap, but they're not the only ones who can't control their powerful sports cars go through Brad Anderson October 31, 2024 21:11 The incident occurred during an event at a racetrack in Costa Rica. The driver of the 911 GT3 failed to start, causing the wheels to spin. Fortunately, the Mustang, which was driving alongside the Porsche, was not killed in the accident. In a drag race between a Porsche 911 GT3 and a Ford Mustang, the results should be obvious. The Porsche, thanks in part to its powerful launch control system, should outpace the Ford. Meanwhile, the driver of the Mustang is the one most likely to crash it into a wall or a crowd. However, that wasn't the case when the GT3 and Mustang recently raced against each other in Costa Rica. This wasn't a glamorous drag race, but a straight pit stop at a local track that seemed to be part of…

Ford Mustang GT History
The GT badge has many meanings Throughout the life of the Ford Mustang. Pick of the Day: 1970 Ford Mustang “T5”
Ford Mustang It was Detroit's postwar success story, but Ford ran into problems selling the model in Germany. It seems that a company that makes trucks owns the rights to the name. Our Pick of the Day is a 1970 Ford T5 SportsRoof, one of the cars that solves this problem. It is listed for sale on ClassicCars.com by a dealer in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. (Click this link to view the list.) The problem with the Mustang fell to Krupp Steel (now ThyssenKrupp). Krupp's history includes artillery, railroads, tanks and trucks, and it was the production of the latter from 1951 to 1968 that put Ford in trouble until the trademark expired in 1973. That's why the Ford Mustang has another name in Germany. Where did T5 come from? This was Ford's internal code when the original Mustang was taking shape. Why is the production car called T5? I can only suspect that branding the Mustang with another name is…

According to the odometer, it has less than 300 miles on it and is in very good condition. There are several examples of owners who have mixed feelings about saying goodbye. This 2008 Shelby GT500 Mustang was parked at a Ford dealer with its original window sticker and less than 300 miles (just 482 kilometers) on the odometer. Don't be fooled into thinking it'll back up the MSRP, though. The convertible muscle car comes in a black-on-black color combination and is equipped with a 500-horsepower…

Mustang GTD may be the first American car to go around circles
Ford looks set to launch the Mustang GTD's 7-minute lap time around the Nürburgring. This would make it the first American car to achieve this feat.
